Hi, Guys!!!
I’m Tasha, a part-time chef based in London with a passion for all things food. As someone who loves exploring Nigerian cuisine and the vibrant dining scene in the UK, I’m here to share my favorite spots for authentic flavours.
Here are my top four spots to enjoy authentic Nigerian cuisine, with a delightful mix of African and Caribbean flavours.
1. Deluxe Manna:
Deluxe Manna tops my list for good reason. This spot, located in Walthamstow, serves a delightful mix of African and Caribbean dishes, and the flavours are simply unforgettable. Their oxtail and curry goat, ntaba & jollof rice are standout dishes, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. While their platters are on the pricier side (starting from £40), the portions and quality make it worth every penny.
The vibe is laid-back and welcoming, but be prepared for service to be a bit slow at times. Nevertheless, Deluxe Manna delivers a unique culinary experience that blends cultural influences beautifully. It’s a must-visit spot in London.

2. 805 Restaurant:
For a taste of traditional Nigerian food, 805 is an excellent choice. Their menu offers all the classics, from yam pottage and egusi soup to suya, rice and stew, and much more. The food is consistently good—I’d rate it an 8.5/10. It’s the kind of food that brings back memories of home, tasting almost as good as mum’s cooking.
That said, the atmosphere is quite lively, with music adding to the buzz. While it’s fun if you’re in the mood for a vibrant setting, it can get very loud. The service also tends to be slow, so it’s best for when you’re in no rush and want to sit for a while.

3. Enish Restaurant:
Enish is one of the most popular Nigerian restaurant chains in the UK, with locations all over the country. Their menu is extensive, offering something for everyone, from egusi soup and suya to classic jollof rice with assorted meat. The flavors are authentic, but if you love your food a bit saltier, you might find yourself reaching for the shaker.
The atmosphere is relaxed but could use some improvement in service, as friendlier waitstaff would elevate the experience. My boyfriend tried the jollof with assorted meat and gave it a solid 7.5/10. While Enish might feel slightly overpriced compared to similar spots, it’s still a good option, especially if you’re looking for a comfortable setting to enjoy Nigerian flavors.

4. Hayatt:
If you’re looking for a spot that offers amazing food and transitions into a lively club atmosphere, Hayatt is the place to be. While it may have a bit of a reputation in the UK for being popular with certain “uncles” looking for younger company, don’t let that distract you from the incredible culinary and entertainment experience it offers.
The goat asun is tender, bursting with flavor, and the tilapia is perfectly flaky. For a real showstopper, try the grilled croaker with yam, it’s a dish that will have you coming back for more. And let’s not forget the Afrobeat playlist that sets the perfect vibe for the evening.
Late at night, Hayatt transforms into a full-blown club with loud music, stylish guests, and an electrifying atmosphere. But a word of caution: be prepared to spend some coins! The experience isn’t cheap, but if you’re looking for a night out with friends or a special date night with your partner, it’s well worth it.
